Yes, at AJs. The tourney lasts the whole month of October. You can register any time but have to wait until the following day to weigh in any fish. I have been bumped off of podium finishes on Oct 31st twice now. It makes for an interesting month of fishing.

That is about it. The official rules are online at the Destin Rodeo website. They left out most of the kayak info but there weren't many rules to begin with. Mainly no mother ships allowed. Can wade fish if the yak is tethered to you. Be safe, have fun, must register the day before you weigh in a fish.

My girlfriend and I are heading down from Georgia this weekend to give it a shot. Any word on conditions or local catches? We are new to the kayak fishing with our wilderness 120s but ready to hit the water. It looks like BFT, sailfish, snapper, and mackerel down near Navarre. Does that mean similar fish will be in the water near Destin?

Any tips are appreciated, and we will be sure to post a report.

Similar fish are in the Destin area as well as mackerel - king and spanish. Remember that Red Snapper are out of season but you can catch and release. The surf conditions will be good with a northerly wind but it could make paddling in tougher.
