Started out doing some trolling for mackerel for the Destin Rodeo but flipper quickly ruined that. I decided to give bottom fishing a try for the first time from the kayak after that. Ended up getting my first kayak cobia (baby), Red Snapper, and Jack. Fun stuff. Anyone know if the jacks in the video are greater, lesser, or almacos? I looked at the fwc website but I still can't really tell them apart.

I like the long handle a lot. I used to use a shorter one. This one allows me to gaff fish farther from the kayak (reducing the chance of the fish and line ending up in the mirage drive). If the fish does get close to the yak I can just choke up on the handle. I also mount my gopro with dive housing on the end of the handle which allows me to get it deeper in the water.

Nice vid. Looks like you had a good day. Water looked pretty sporty. We started catching AJs down there in the late spring. As far as a I know they are juvenile Greater AJs. They love the speed jigging. Something I would recommend after watching your vid. When you are fighting a fish, unless you are maneuvering to help you fight him take your feet off the peddles. You may not notice, but you are putting stress on your peddle masts that may cause them to snap later on down the road. Trust me, both of mine have broken. Keep up the good work!
