Crisp and cool morning. Got in just as sky was filling with light. Heard about 7 shots and JJ was getting impatient. I proped his feet in my lap, warmed his boots up and got him comfy again. I nodded off while he looked around and tried to stay warm. He said "Deer" as I opened my eyes from a quick rest. 4 does in a line.
He was trying to get lined up on one, I was not helping him move to fast because I really wanted him to wait on a buck. He finally got ready and they were in the brush. We both agreed to wait on the shot. I hit the Big Timber Calls grunt a few times and sure enough little buck comes in. He cant stand still " BUCK BUCK BUCK BUCK". Ok lets get settled. He already has his ear muffs on and gets lined up. He cocks the hammer and I feel him tense up and he says it didnt shot. I tell him to back up and try again. He is pushing the gun against the break action and it will not fire. This whole time I am on him with the .300 because if he connects with the .243 I am not tracking deer any more. He does it once more. I have to set my riffle down and show him what he is doing wrong. He gets it handled and gets lined back up. I am not ready. He says " I am gonna shoot" , BOOM. He rares up as I I lock on him and let one fly. He is floping and we finish him off. All this at 40 yards over what seemed like 30 minutes. Probably only 2 but man what a rush. He is pumped we have been sitting but he can not any longer. We are abput to go see his BBD As he told me!!!

Well we are perched on the porch of a cabin. Weather is a tad warm but not complaining! Dillian is sitting where JJ killed his this morning. Should be a great afternoon.
