How do yawl avoid them. Every time I go out 90% of my bait is being destroyed by crabs.

drop a trap in your spots, catch 'em, eat 'em, mostly likely not but maybe it'll give your bait a fighting chance...if you don't want them i'll take 'em

Usually I'm fishing for redfish.

If using cut bait you'll have that problem. Catch some pinfish or use some finger mullet, crab ususally won't mess with live bait until the bait starts dying and laying on the bottom. Crabs seem to go after the belly first.
