On August 22, 2012 I ordered a cast net from Allison Net's in Alabama. Well I have not yet received my order. I have been trying to contact him for the last week. And the site has changed, no longer showing his cell number. The number is an 813 area code suggesting the FL Tampa area. When I call the number I get a message that the mailbox is full and not accepting calls. Also when I e mail it will not go through. Has anyone had a problem with this vendor?

Cast Net Purchase Problems

I deal with many cast net sellers and makers and have never heard of this one.

There are many local sources for cast nets where you can deal with a seller or maker directly and prevent this kind of problem.

Buy with a card and let the card company sort it out. JMHO C2

I know the man who owns Allison Castnets. I ordered two nets directly from him this past March. By the middle of June he still hadn't completed one of my nets and hadn't even started on the other.Needless to say I told him where he could put those castnets. He doesn make nice nets, but his time devoted to actually doing it is very sporadic. Most days of the week you can find him standing on the end of the pier in Gulf Shores trying to catch kings.

I haven't seen David in a while. I hope he is OK. If I see some of our regular pier-fishing customers today I will ask them if he has seen him.

I have never bought a net from him, but have heard that his time for completion can be a long haul. Regardless, there are a lot of people that say he makes the best nets and buy them from him.

If I find something out about him, I will send you a PM

I'm sorry about your incident but David Allison is a good man, I've fished with him on gsp many times and brought a few ribbon rigs from him. I'll try to get in touch with him and bring him to this thread.

Cast Net Purchase

No doubt that he is a nice man who shouldn't really be in the cast net making business if he can't deliver in a timely manner.

You have to run it like a business . If he wants to pier fish; go for it. Just don't accept orders for cast nets! JMHO C2
