Would someone w/ just a MMD cardbe able to use the Sherman Cove facilities? Having a debate with some of the fellas I'm currenty working with on a lift boat. My guess is no. Others are arguing that w/ a MMD card they are allowed access to portions of military bases and thought it would allow use of the boat ramp. Any thoughts?

No. We keep our boat at Sherman Cove and base police always patrols around there and I have been asked many times for my military ID, they are much more strict about now days. The back gate makes all persons in the car show there military ids not just the driver, even if the driver has a military id, if the others don't they turn you around, which is stupid because you can go through the front gate with no id.

Not so, where did you see someone go through the front gate without any ID. If you are going to the museum you can get on base but you still need a valid drivers license. The same rules apply for the front and back gates. :doh

You are right you do need a valid diver license. Last time I tried to get on base with my friend the cop would not let us on because my friend did not have a military ID. He said that we both needed to show a military ID. I have never had that problem before. Maybe it was just that cop, that was at the back gate, the front has never been a problem.

Again you are wrong. Only one person in the vehicle needs a military ID the other needs some kind of picture ID. And no one needs a military ID if you tell them you are going to the Museum just a valid drivers license and picture IDs for the rest.

That's right because you were in the car with us. I know only one person needs to show a military ID but that day, that cop told us that everyone in the car needed a military ID. I'm not saying your wrong just what happened last time I was at the base.

This post started asking about Sherman cove. If you told the guard you were going to the barraks or somewhere else that required everyone to be Military than that could of happened. But to go to Sherman cove only one needs to have Military ID.

I have often "dragged" other cars through the back gate headed to Sherman Cove... at 0430 in the morning.

NEVER had a problem.

I hope it hasn't changed.

Not to derail the thread any more than already done, if you tell the guard that you are going into one of the restricted areas (signs and lights), then everyone needs a Mil ID. I have also escorted cars to Sherman (for friends with an Mil ID) and have also been able to leave word at the gate and have the car go through without me being there. Sometime it depends on what alert they are on.

What kind of card was the original question talking about?
