This morning a buddy and I left the landing at first light for the squirrel woods . River rather low so with vision low we took it easy but still hit a couple of snags before we got to the squirrel woods. Managed to get three tree rats before we put a line in the water for catfish. Made a couple of moves and found a spot that was productive. Partner started catching channel cat eaters which was just fine for tablefair. Also, we managed to get a 4.40 and 3.24 channel. They were stuffed with stolen shrimp bait and shrimp heads we tossed in the water for chum.
Beautiful morning to be in the woods and on the water. The river is in excellent fishing condition but if you are in known snag areas be careful and watch for sandbar shallows. Also be prepaired for that lone ranger that comes out of nowhere to break a blade off the prop. We were fishing above Cedar Log.
