I was at my neighbors and there are 3 of these trees in the back near the pond. Are they catawaba trees? If so, when do worms appear? Thanks

Looks like a catawba tree. Ask your neighbor if he has had worms in the past. If not, you won't have any until you go get worms from another source and put them on the tree. If all goes well and birds don't get the worms, they will go through their normal life cycle and you will have worms next year.

my catawba worms usually show up april-may pending weather. this is in central alabama.
if there have been worms, they might show up this year. no bets. if your not sure, set up a light to keep on in the night so the sphinx moth can find it easier.

Yepper..... if no worms steal some from another tree and put em on them. They will reproduce and come back next year.
