So I just ordered a new Riptide 45 for a jonboat. I opened the box, which appeared to over been handled poorly, and take out the trolling motor.
Looks like the box was dropped from a high location b/c the packing in the bottom was smashed. I look over the motor to see if any damage was there, and the bottom fin on the head of the trolling motor is slightly curved or bent.

Is that normal, or was it damaged from a fall?

It's not normal. Request a replacement. There's no telling what ELSE got jacked up that will cause it to fail prematurely.

Thanks. The curve isn't drastic, and the painted isn't cracked at the bend, but I don't remember any of my other trolling motors having that curve, so I had to ask.
By the looks of the box, I figured something was wrong.
