My son just bought a 24’ boat that had old half gone anti foul paint. We would really like to find some one that is good enough to take it off and repaint it with the org non anti foul paint.
Does anyone know or have contact info for some
one who is VERY at it.
I guess, it thats to expensive we will go back with new anti foul paint.

#1.....Removing the paint and having the gellcoat shine is a BIG job....Very expensive and labor intensive....Yes I've done mine.

Most places will not do it the way I did....using paint stripper.

They will want to media blast it.....Problem is...That does not leave a shiny finish...In fact it's just the opposite.

If you spend anytime in the readings of paint companies...You will see...
"Not for use below the waterline".

What that means is a painted hull......With "Topside" paint can not stay in the water submerged for long periods of time....Think like over 2 weeks .

Any paint like Pettit's Vivid....will not have a shine. It will be flat.

When I built my Mako aka X-Shark, I painted the bottom with Regular Awlgrip. It was a trailer boat....It never stayed in the water more than 2 days....Never had a problem with any bubbles or blistering.

So there's some info for you.
