Caught bait the day before so got to sleep in a little but still made it to the pass by 8. I had gotten 3 different reports of sails being caught close in the last few days so decided to troll a few ledges on the way out with no luck. Got to our first spot when I was about to pull the lines in what looked like a bomb going off crushed the short and proceeded to damn near spool my 750ss. From the way it was fighting I was thinking nice cobia the whole time but was just as happy to see a fat blackfin when he finally got to the boat. Fished some chicken coops and caught all the usuals, snapper, triggers, ect. Decided to move to natural bottom and rigged up for the big boys. Anchored up and as soon as I was set here comes a big pod of dolphin to ruin the day. Said screw it and dropped down anyway, put the rod in the rod holder and it was soon bowed over. Wasnt
giving me anything so I figured a dolphin was messing with me. I cranked down the drag on the 6/0 and started pullin, took a good 10 minutes to get him off the bottom but once I did the fight was on, every little bit I got he took twice as much back but after 20 minutes of pulling he finally surfaced, my first nurse shark. He was a big boy, and I was whooped, any estimate on weight? Was a good battle and am thinking I'll be doing serious shark fishing when the rodeo starts, just not sure I want to kill one. Everything went back besides the blackfin and a couple triggers. Made it home in time to watch the Saints lose by a towndown again.

Nice catch! Hard to estimate the weight without something for comparison, but nice shark.
