It pays to be versatile and have multiple setups and lures ready when flats fishing.

Try freshwater Bass Assassin with a 1/0 or 2/0 worm hook rigged weedless( hook in the body slot) on the grass flats. Best colors are grey top with cream belly, followed by the black/gold flake. Weight of the hook will cause it to dive head down when you are not working the bait. Work it right on the surface and if you get a swing and a miss, stop working the Assassin and let it sink. Just watch your line to suddenly tighten up some on the dive, means the fish that missed grabbed it on the sink. I've caught specks, redfish, snook, flounder using the freshwater Assassins.
I did good down there with 1/4 oz DOA shrimp in either clear with a green tail like a white shrimp or in brown, like a bay shrimp ( brownies and hopper shrimp)

I go weightless when they are feeding aggressively.
