Had a 7' Penn graphite rod break on me the other day, and figured I could still get some use out of it. Couldn't find an orange safety flag at Bass Pro or Wal-Mart, and then I remembered this thread! Not only are the Gators my team of choice, they also happen to have the closest colors to safety orange. Plan to put it in an extra rod holder or tankwell scupper hole on the yak. Added a $7 energizer LED light to use after dark, only downside was they apparently do not make such a light with a white light in the wand part.
They do sell one made by Scotty at academy for 45 bucks. I sawed a 7ft rod down to where the safety light on the white pole fit really snug and put a small screw through the pole into the rod to secure it. It works great I have a picture of it I can post for you later if you want a visual. I have posted it in the general discussion thread about safety flags on yaks about a week ago.

I'm looking to head out from navarre early Sunday morning. Would like to have someone else out there also for the just in cases if possible. I've fished offshore from the yak plenty of times when I was up in south Carolina but it's been a few years and I'd prefer to not go solo if I can help it...
So I've recently upgraded from my dinky lake and creek beater kayak to the new Ascend 133x kayak.
I've dumped quite a bit of money into it, mainly because I've waited years to upgrade and figured I'd treat myself lol. But now with a much nicer yak, I'd really like to make a...
I have a small cheap kayak I bought to see if I liked it, well I don't but my wife loves it. Her birthday and summer is coming up so I'd like to get her a new one but don't know enough about them. Shes a big girl and needs a stable one she can get out of without turning it over. Any suggestions?
