Looking to possibly go in the woods with someone before the season is up. I am looking to get in the woods with someone that can show me the ropes. Even if it's only to tag along. I just want to see how it's done. Looking to stay close to home (Milton) and just get a feel of how the hunt is supposed to go. I recently sighted in my Remington 700 30-06 and can shoot 1 MOA at 100 yards with it. But I am not necessarily looking to shoot anything yet. Just want togo on the hunt and learn.

If you want some company and don't mind taking a 100% new hunter along with you, shoot me a PM. Mostly can go on the weekends. Again, I have never hunted. So just know that.

I have taken a few new divers on a spearfishing trip to show them the ropes and at least show them what I know about the sport. So I was wondering if the same can be shown to me about hunting. I am a hands on learner. I have read till I am blue in the face about it. But nothing can replace actually going. And I have no idea where to start.

Trying to save my time off for the baby right now. But once she is born (next week or so) it's game on hopefully. Like I said, sitting without a gun would be just fine. Just want to see the ins and outs. A few people have PM'd me and I might be able to get out before the season ends. Hopefully. I picked the most crazy time to try and do this. Season is ending and the baby is about to be here. :doh

Talk about 1st time luck! He's in the stand for 10 minutes and blasts a racked buck. We are both still in our stands but it's his first deer. I just met the guy so should he get the first time deer blood bath. I will post the pics tonight.

Where are the pics Jon??? Whats funny about this is I have taken Vince aka outdooraviator many times this year and he has not seen a deer. The buck was a nice 7 point. I told him how I grunted in the buck last week and he did that and 10 minutes later boom. I had not even sat down in my climber yet when the shot went off. The deer had all the signs of rut. As far as the blood bath goes we gave him a chance to do it himself but my buddy did not think he was doing a good job so he got it bad. He is looking for a taxidermist in the Milton area if you all know someone good. Freakin great way to start his hunting hobby. I told him not to get use to that.

Yep. You should have heard 2 shots. 1 was a cat 1 hour later. I don't understand how you guys are not seeing deer. Your nothing but 1/2 mile away!!!!

My brutha - ya have no clue how pissed we are about our property in general(we are seriously discussing NOT leasing it next season)...I have not seen a deer in the last 9 times on stand! It is killing me to say the least. I (we) have sat a plot, bottoms, along transitions - you name it, we've done it! Still not seeing crap!

Did you or Jon or Lee take the cat? I hope you guys post some pics! We have a good sized cat on our lease - but have not seen him but just on camera...

Lee busted it. I just cant do it. I'm a puss that way. And if you are not going to pick that other land up again let me know first. I will put a couple of plots in it and hunt it once a month. Those bucks you have on camera will only be bigger next year.

Dude, we soooo had some good bucks on camera...but we have not even had any pics as of late, it is just crazy James! What really makes us go nuts is the fact that the spot I hunted wed and thursday as well as today was ate up with "chase" tracks...they were obviously fresh since it rained Sunday and then again yesterday and the location washes away tracks as there is a down grade there...there were several tracks along the trailto where I was hunting (and is clearly visible from the tree I was in) so they obviously were chasing after the weather broke last night. Gonna give er a go again tomorrow! You gonna be up at your place? If so, gimme a call and stop in and see us - I will introduce ya to my buddy...
