Well, this morning I found myself north of here on an Alabama management area hanging from a tree. I was sitting in a select cut over looking a bottom. At 7:15 a.m. I heard a faint grunt. Now , after 30 years of deer hunting I had never heard a deer actually grunt so I was kind of wondering if someone across the bottom was blowing on their grunt tube. About the time I ran this thought through my mind, two does ran directly behind my tree and into the bottom. Well I figured the buck I heard grunt would be behind them so I stood up in my stand and started looking for him. After about a minute I didn't see him so I sat down. About the time I sat down, he grunted louder so I stood up again. This time though I saw him coming out of a draw not 20 yds from me. He looks up at me but his mind is on something else so he keeps coming. At aboutten steps behind me I pull the trigger and he takes off. I chamberanother round and pick him up in my scope to shoot a second time but I can see blood all over his side and about that time he falls and doesn't get up. He was a solid nine point with stickers all over the base of his horns. He was aged at 4 1/2 and weighed 165 lbs. Here is a couple of pictures.
Here is where he fell. I took the pic out of my stand. He was about 100 yards away.
Here is a couple of pictures that I took of him where he laid when I walked up to him.
