I am posting for a friend:

He has a 94 Mariner that was running fine, but has been setting up for almost 2 years. He has everything back in shape except the power trim. This unit has a electric hydraulic power trim (two wire motor). There is no response from the switch on the motor or cockpit. When power is applied directly to the motor via a small (300 amp) jump box 12 v plug, he cannot hear any noise from the motor. Think it is shot? Any suggestions? Is this a DIY job?

Thanks for your help.

If one wire was to possitive and the other to negative, and the motor still did not run.... yep it's shot. Not sure of what HP it is, but most trimm motors are not hard to replace unless there is corosion involved. Not sure what mechanical aptitude he has, but if he can't reach the bolts, the engine may have to come off.
