HI,I've seen several reference's to "free lining" shrimp for Reds.Would some one like to explain it to me.Is it the same as using a popping cork?Thanks,Robin

Free lining a bait is when the only terminal tackle you are using is the hook (or leader)...no weight, no float. This allows for the most natural presentation for you bait with little to no restrictions for its movement.

You might still want to use a leader depending on what and where you're fishing, but yes it's as simple as a bait on a hook on a line.

I also include a small ball bearing swivel 'tween my leader and line...

If you use a swivel be sure it's black. Otherwise a blue or spanish will go for it and cut you off. I personally don't bother with a swivel unless I'm fishing wire leader, sometimes not even then... Just splice the leader to line with a uni-uni or albright. There are a bunch of really good demo videos on youtube for these 2 knots.
