Left OB around 630 with Billy and Robert and pointed towards the nipple. Saw a shrimp boat dragging to the north and trolled behind her for a little bit. Had one strike that ripped the hook and swivel off a braid runner. Ran to the nipple and put lines in. Water was real pretty but not much going on. Trolled to the elbow and then back towards the east from there with nothing to show for it. Saw a few flyers every once in a while but that was about it. There were lots of boats out there but the radio was pretty quiet.

Stopped to deep drop for a little bit and got a couple tiles but it was pretty slow. Hooked something big at 600 feet and after fighting it on the electric pulled up a 40 plus AJ. We ran to try a new bottom area on the way in and found a good spot. Picked up a couple red grouper and a half dozen scamp and called it a day. It was a great day on the water.

Had the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago on a braid runner. Bull dolphin came out of the water behind the boat when he hit it then the line went slack. When we pulled it in the front hook had come off the welded ring. Sent it back to braid and they welded on a new ring with hook and said it shouldn't happen again. Sorry you lost a fish, may want to let them know. Thanks for the report and doesn't sound like a bad day though with the AJ and scamp.
