In the process of swapping over to HPS system and Im teatering on the verge of either selling my 400 Metal Halide light now or converting it to HPS. I tried a conversion bulb but it kept cutting out.

Whats my light worth? Cant remember how much I have in it but I have the ballast remote mounted and an aluminum bracket. Itll take $100 to buy a ballast.

I run Mh but want hps. I tried the conversion bulb but kept cutting out due to fact that they can't run off generators which I found out after talking to a guy who runs a hydroponic shop. You have to have a generator ready digital ballast. You can get a new hps ballast for around $50-$60 online. Just look at the hydropnic grow sites and you can find good prices on them. Also e-bay has a bunch of them.

Thanks, I thought I had a defective bulb or something.

What are these "caps" for that I've been reading about? I know that these lights have capacitors in them but these are aftermarket I take it?

Some of your cheaper lights don't have caps. You really need them for start up if you running several light. They help to stop generator overload during start up.
