So I just started hunting this year. Shot my first one in November It was a spike. Could not see his spikes behind his ears. Felt bad about it. But I made up for it this weekend with a 210 lb 8 Point. Thought I heard him behind me but it was just echoing off the hill behind me and when I turned around he was about 115 yards down the hill looking right at me. I thought I was busted. We had a stare off for about 3 minutes, he turned his head which gave me an opportunity to put hand on my gun. He looked back at me and stared again for about 3 minutes and then decided to turn broadside to me and start to walk. I pulled my gun up and took shot he dropped, got back up and ran towards the creek bottom. We were able to track him into the creek and it was a beautiful setting for killing my first good buck.
