[Splittine]

After watching the .17HMR video on here this morningI got the itch. Went out popped 2 squirels then seen a few rabbits....I dont like shooting rabbits in our yard but wanted to see what the .17 could do. This was at about 75 yards.

I saw that other rabbit video earlier.. How big of a round is the .17? It did'nt loook that big when the guy was dumping them in the back of the truck.. Almost like a .22/.25 round

The big thing is the velocity. The .22 travels about 1000fps the .17 is runnning about 2500fps

Actually the bullet is smaller, but the brass is bigger which has more powder. No kick at all.

Plus more range and a heck of alot more accurate. i.e more head shots less wasted meat...unless like Jason you eat the brains. oke

I'm with you on that one, I want one.. I have a .22 rifle, but heck what am I gonna do with it.. I dont hunt, just collect them like my uncle does.

i have a couple friends that shoot about 95% of their deer with a .17. they only shoot them in the neck and they never take a step, no tracking! the couple deer that they did shoot behind the shoulder this year ran and were shot with a .270. one of them didnt even have a blood trail. they walked up on him dead 100yards or so away.
