1-20 [Structure is the Name of the Game]
Last night was the Mogan Man's last night in Pensacola, so him, Mitch & I begged Cap'n Josh to get the Mako on the water. Finally around 1:30AM we hit the water with redemption in mind, since our last trip was beyond lackluster. Switched up tactics & found the fish pretty quick. Normally we fish the lights, but the moon phase & the absence of water movement has evidently had the reds combing the structure on the bottom instead of cruising the lights like normal. Got hung up a few times, lost some jigs, & had a pretty close call which consisted of Josh hooking Nathan's hat (better than hooking his head! :lol
, but it was a pretty great short trip! Josh couldn't find any redfish, but my bet is that he just felt bad for all of us novices & decided to let us catch all the fish... :whistling: Headed back to the ramp around 4:30AM so that Josh could get to work on time & so that Nathan, Mitch & I could head to Denny's for an early morning breakfast.

Guiding would be awesome, but I'd have to steal Josh's boat or buy my own, because I'm not sure how many people would pay me to help them catch bulls from Sykes bridge.
For real though, guiding sounds like my ideal career. I love passing knowledge & tips that I've acquired through experience on to others & seeing people around me, whether they're my friends or just fellow fishermen, get excited over catching fish. & the bite is only going to get better from here. Throughout most of the end of February/beginning of March all the way through the middle of April/beginning of May, the bulls will be thick in the lights at the bridges. Sight fishing is the name of the game during that time. It's my favorite time of year!
