Yes I am a flyfisherman. Actually, I was strictly a fly guy until November of last year when I picked up a spinning rod. The reason I bought the freedomhawk was because I wasn't able to fly cast from my other kayak, a Perception Sports Pescador.
I try to catch fish on a fly when I can, enjoy tying my own flies, and belong to the local fly club. In fact, the reason I went to Dizzy Lizzy's for the first time was because I heard he had a good fly tying section.
I really enjoyed our trip to Jim's with Flatspro. There were probably 15 kayaks in our fleet and almost everyone caught at least one redfish. I just brought traditional casting tackle and caught one of the biggest reds of the trip, a 25 incher. I've been tying some flies for the murkier water and plan on bringing the long rod on my next trip there. What types of flies do you like to use up there and where do you launch from? Maybe when the storms calm down we should make a freedomhawk owners fly fishing trip!
tmber8, I saw your post about fishing near Jim's fishcamp with flatspro, hope it went well. Did you do any good? I see that you fish a Freedom Hawk, you, Steve from Dizzy Lizzy, my best friend Mike and I are the only Freedom Hawk fishermen I have heard of. You wouldn't happen to be a fly fisherman as well would you? Mike and I are strictly fly guys, but you just don't find my yak/fly fishermen combinations so I was just curious.
