Hey my friend, sorry I missed your message. I had open heart surgery on 11-4 & I been kinda out of the loop. Lookes like I'm gonna be in recovery mode a few more weeks.
Ain't heard many reports on Crooked Creek. Did hear of a few being caught way down at the mouth. If it's cold go up the creek, if moderate weather try around the old bridge pilings. Good luck man.

Hi Donald.........haven't heard from you in a good while. Doing any fishing? I'm into crappie and learning what I can. Managing to catch a few here and there. Past few trips have been to Dead River in combo squirrel and crappie on the menu.

Will be fishing Crooked Creek on Dec 12. Taking a friend and will drop him off with the boat on my way to PC Beach for doctor appointment, then back to hook up with him around noon.

Would like to give you a call and talk about Crooked Creek a little. I know you have fished it a few times. Need your telephone number.

Mullet fishing has been the pits for months, but will try them Monday. Quit fishing them a couple of months ago after 3 or 4 bad trips.

Hi Donald.........saw your post on the rod holder. Skiff did a good job on the design. I believe his setup is for catfishing but it will work for trolling. Met a guy yesterday on the river from around Dothan who fishes crappie at Lake Eufaule. He had about 8 or 10 rod holders hooked to gunnel on one side of the boat. They caught a bunch of short specks and had only 2 keepers. I gave them six mullet.
I have been killing the mullet right along. 29 yestersy by myself.
Seeing a lot of Alabama boats down here now that speck season is just starting up.

    Hi Donald,
Well, I need a fising report from your way. LOL

Have been doing a lot of fishing with a friend from Kansas. He's a crappie guy so most of the time we are looking for crappie, but without finding them. Just one here and there. This season is all messed up with the warm water. They are not bunching up like last year. With 60 to 64 degree water for some time now I would not be surprized if they have not already spawned.

Catching a keeper bass now and then as well as specks, but no numbers.

I keep hearing reports on Panama City tv shows about how good bream fishing is right now, but I'm sure not finding that to be the case. At least not in the Choctawhatchee River.

Will be up in Dothan on Thursday to see doctor. If I have time will stop by for a few minutes.

If I didn't mention it I have been having good luck using Zoom Fluke baits. Catching a lot of specks but short on keepers, but sooner or later the keepers will come along.

Zoom, Super Salt Plus, "The Fluke", white ice color. It's white with silver flecks

Get the favored super salt plus variety.

The other color is the Zoom Fluke, Arkansas Shiner color. All of a sudden this color is hard to find. Bass Pro was sold out last Saturday.

Hi Donald: Have been out of commission since early last week. Kidney problem. OK now and ready to hit the water when the rain quits.
Report on WMBB this morning that the water level is too high in Lake Powell. Corps of Engineers has approved the county to open the pass starting today. This should improve fishing in the lake if they leave the pass open long enough.

Hi Donald. Went out 3 days this week. Did fair the first day, zilch the second trip, and finally had a good trip yesterday. Friday, fished Black Creek from about noon to 4:30. Stayed in the Creek and within a mile of the bridge on hwy 3280. With friend Joe we caught 20 reds but only one 22 inch keeper. Also, a bass about 2 lb, an two hybreds. Several specks but no keepers. Tried several baits but the 6 inch whilte Gulp Fluke outfished everything else. First time either of us had ever tried the Fluke.

Joe and I are trying to put together an exploratory trip next week to the warm water Canal to the power plant on Deer Point Lake. This is catch and release only. Have you ever been there? Have read about it for years how fish stack up in there when the water gets cold. Yesterday it was 56 in Black Creek so the temp is dropping.
