Default Looking for Clubs for NEXT season

Will be graduating from Public land into a club next year, which one is the question. Looking to spend around $800-$1000 for membership dues/fee's. Never been a member of a club before but have gone as a guest to PCHC on numerous occasions. PCHC is one that I am looking into, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on some of the local clubs. Just want some details: Fees, Regs, game available, guests allowed ETC. I live in Pace/Milton, not looking for anything in Bama due to license cost and such. Look forward to hearing from you all

Thanks

I was a guest of a member of a hunting club last December. I shot a buck and a doe on the same day, both of which went against the member's deer quota for the year. It was all within the written club rules. I joined the following spring, looking forward to some camaraderie. How was I greeted by the hunting club at the annual meeting? By a long diatribe by the club president and a board member about how "offended" they were that I shot two deer in one day, and a rule change banning guest hunts during doe week and the last two weeks of deer season. This club is headed by a bunch of petty, immature a-holes.

However, I've seen numerous hogs and does on my plot. Dues are $750 per year. Two bucks, two does, and unlimited hogs. Bucks must be at least 7 points with a 12" inside spread. But if you're at the cleaning station butchering your 7 pt 12" inside spread buck, rest assured some a-hole will walk up behind you and state "I wudda let that one walk. Ya know, we've got these unwritten rules here....."

PM me for info.

As far as the unwritten rules.. I reckon they need to be in writing, then.

So there was a quota on deer for members - you were invited and killed two? Nothing wrong with that as long as your host allowed it. I suspect the club keeps their restrictions low to allow first timers and kids an easier chance at a successful hunt. Being a club president and trying to come up with a minimum amount of fair rules is a hard job and not a lot of fun. My hats off to anyone that runs a successful club
