Not trying to knock the price at all since I see what they go for new....but what makes these worth spending that kind of money? Are they really that worth it compared to some cheapest 10x42 binoculars?

Not trying to sound rude or snobby but in the world of quality hunting glass, $500 is on the lower end. Not trying to take away from these binos by any means. Years ago I thought people were silly for spending hundreds of dollars on binos and or scopes. I have "seen" the error of my ways. The more time you spend behind quality glass, the more you will understand.

Vortex makes some good products both on the low end and on the high end as with any major manufacturer and they stand behind their products. Not sure about his price, but Im sure he knows what he paid and what they go for (as it has been awhile since I looked at these binos). And if he is not asking retail, then weigh the cost new vs what he is asking. If he is lower than retail. they are in like new condition, and you are in the market for a mid-low range bino; Id say jump. Remember taxes on a new set of $500 binos is another $38 bucks.
