Default Thankful

Reading in Genesis this morning about Abraham being willing to sacrifice Isaac at Gods request. The similarities of that story and God sacrificing his own son is eye opening. Isaac carried the wood for the fire on his back - Jesus - the cross. Two witnesses were present in both situations. Isaac allowed himself to be bound. Both seemed to be willing to be sacrificed. Thank you Lord for your flawless book full of instruction for all!!!

Amen Kevin! Working my way through the New Testament for the second time and feel it may take a time or two more to absorb. I really need to concentrate on the Old Testament next.

That's intense reading and I look at it and look at my sons and don't see me being that strong in faith to be perfectly honest. If I was, I'd probably be Baker Acted!!!

Several cool aspects of that story. One is the location of the sacrifice. Mt Moriah is actually 4 mountains in Jerusalem. God told Abraham to go to Moriah to the mountain I will show you. Guess where Jesus was crucified on a Roman cross? That's right...Moriah. At the same place. The scripture says Abraham called the place "the Lord will provide." It is still called that to this day. Indeed, the Lord did provide. He provided his own son.

Also really loving the significance of how much bread was leftover after Jesus fed the 4 and 5000. I'm one happy gentile and would be happy with the crumbs that fall from the masters table!
