Default Son of Man

I was reading in Ezekiel the other day and saw several verses where Ezekiel was referred to athe Son of Man. That never really hit me, but seems that is a significant title. Any thoughts or insights?

I think it just emphasizes the prediction of God becoming man.

This is a footnote:
Ezekiel 2:1 The Hebrew phrase ben adam means human being. The phrase son of man is retained as a form of address here and throughout Ezekiel because of its possible association with “Son of Man” in the New Testament.

Since it means"human being" I reckon it was a term used for the age. I would understand it a bit more if he was considered "my son". But through the interpretations of the years and languages, it's hard to say. It was used quite a bit through there and made me read into it!!! Good obervation

I believe it was a way of saying ezekiel is completely a man, maybe even "only a man" in contrast to God, who is...well, God. Today, I would be Joe, follower of Christ. Son of man emphasizes Ezekiel's humility in contrast to God's glory, my humility in contrast to Jesus' authority and and sovereignty.

I prefer "simple man" to theologian. I just fish and talk about Jesus. Oh...and build a reel or two on occasion.

The rest of us are way past time to fish! Mild winter = catch fish all year long. Check out my last couple of posts in Surf Fishing Reports. I do need a little more variety in the freezer though. I've got a little spot about 17 miles out...

15 But Ezekiel was the first time the term was used. Would it not be more of a common term. It was used around 90 Times. The only other reference to "Son of Man" is in Daniel
Quote:
15 While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there before me stood one who looked like a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai calling, “Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision.”

17 As he came near the place where I was standing, I was terrified and fell prostrate. “Son of man,”[b] he said to me, “understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.”

18 While he was speaking to me, I was in a deep sleep, with my face to the ground. Then he touched me and raised me to my feet.
It's not used anywhere else in the OT and only refers to Christ in the NT.

If it were for humility why would Job, or Moses not have used the term?

Christ's lineage doesn't apparently go back through Daniel and Ezekiel and the Daniel reference doesn't seem prophetic in any way.
