Default You should have seen the one that got away

Couldn't get out on the water until low tide yesterday afternoon. Fished some of my usual spots around Simpsons without a bite. I decided to paddle to a spot that has been productive for Reds in the past, but still no luck. I was about to give up and head back in when I saw a swirl out of the cornor of my eye, over my right shoulder. I quickly threw the super spook Jr. behind me and started walking the dog by feel, because I was facing the other way. Suddenly, my rod doubled over and I heard a great splash. Alas what tried to take my bait was gone as quickly as it had come, but no doubt it was huge.

I decided it was time to call it a day and head back to the landing empty handed. But I wasn't too disappointed that I lost my catch. Who eats pelican anyway.
