So as you all know I had planned to launch at Johnson’s beach and slay every fish in the water. So as usual plans changed. I launched at Johnson’s beach as planned but the whole slaying every fish in the water thing was well not a reality. Lol. I pulled up and the toll booth was closed and the sign said to proceed. That meant free admission! Love me some free stuff. So I parked at the first spot I could get to cause the place was packed. Unloaded 14 ft of awesomeness and excitement. Well about halfway to the water that awesomeness and excitement turned into a few swear words and a bucket of sweat. Once I made it to the water no time was wasted to cool off. I just ran and jumped in splash and WTF the water was freezing!! I was running faster to get out that I did to get in but I was no longer hot. Mission accomplished. A few minutes to put my fish slaying machine together and off I went. The tide was coming in and the wind was blowing the same direction. I casted every single lure in my box and had no luck. I stood and searched. I poled around some and let the wind and tide push me some. Not even a nibble. I found the bait fish in the shallower water mostly in the grass. I don’t really have a problem not catching fish. I’m self taught on all the fishing I do and I’ve realized that catching a fish is a bonus to the ability to be able to drag that yak out there and just be able to enjoy what our area offers. I spent roughly 4 hours out there and enjoyed every moment. It would’ve been way better if I had someone to share it with in person but I will settle for sharing with anyone who takes the time to read this. I saw party boats and canoes and barges and just really had a great time. I also got to try my newest lure. So once I decided to head out I made my way back to the sand. Then there was that long drag back to the truck. Ugh. I really need to invest in a beach cart. I would’ve paid $500 for one yesterday. Well that pretty much sums it up. All in all another fantastic day on the water. Also the vantage seat works great as a beach chair.

Nice post, sounds like your head is in exactly the right place.

I dragged my yak for a few years before my wife bought me beach cart. I had just always opted to buy another rod or fishfinder or whatever instead of a cart.
The cart was worth it.
