Default Yak launch - Johnson's Beach or Big Lagoon?

Visiting Perdido Key and wanting to fish for reds and trout. I understand that grass flats around Big Lagoon and JohnsonsBeach are good spots. Which is easier to launch from for a solo fisherman?

Also, are there any launch points from Johnson's Beach that are near the cut to Pensacola Bay? Thanks

From Johnson beach you can launch almost anywhere on the intercostal (north side) of the beach. The first left past the gate there is a nice little canoe and kayak launch. If you are going to launch on the beach side I would launch near the main lot so you can have a shorter distance to the water.

In terms of anything being close to the pensacola pass from Johnson beach I would say not really. Its a good three miles from the end of the paved road on Johnson Beach to the pensacola pass to the east. You can do it but it can be a bit of a chore if you end up fighting the current or wind. If you want to go to the pass I would drive around to the east side of the pass to Fort Pickens (from pensacola beach). Unless you are military you could launch from the base at Sherman Cove.

Maybe someone else will comment on this but I don't know of a shorter distance or launch point to the Pensacola Pass from the Johnson Beach-Perdido Area (excluding sherman cove).

Not sure, but i think big lagoon would be the closest middle point for non military.
