Default Winter Kayak Challenge results!

Well guys the 5th annual Winter Kayak Challenge was a huge success and once again it took some really quality fish to put your name on the leaderboard!

This year we experimented with an 18 day event rather than an 11 day as we've done the past 4 years. I'd love to know your opinions on the extra week. My opinion: Due to the multiple arctic blasts we received the competitors wouldn't have had many fishable days, however the extra week made up for that. Although it seemed to make the tourney a bit long and drawn out.

Another major change we made this year was expanding the boundaries and the addition of 2 new signup locations. We extended our boundaries to include Bay County Fl so that our fellow kayakers in the Panama City area could compete. Sunjammers Watersports stepped up as a signup location for that area. Broxsons Outdoors in Navarre also jumped on board to accommodate signups in the FWB, Navarre, GB area.

And finally the results you've all been looking for!

Congrats to everyone who grinded and got it done during the coldest Florida Winter I can remember in years!

OHenry likes this.

It would be nice to see a leader board that didnít have the same person taking multiple spotS.

Thanks Donnie;

My question stemmed from curiosity on the sizes of fish caught, etc. I fished the tourney for a bit, work cut my days shorter than I wanted, but I thought the time frame was perfect.

I agree! I was surprised about how few submissions we had this year. It's always been pretty competitive and I know a lot of guys fished hard but it was honestly pretty difficult to find quality fish. But if you found one good one you'd find several more. The 6 biggest specks all came from the exact same spot.

And it was probably the 8 biggest specks all came from the same place...too cold to night fish for me this year.

I didn't even know the tournament was extended 1 week. It would have been good to have something like an email list or text list for tournament updates and a live(ish) leader board. I only had 1 day to fish during the initial period and the wind just beat us down. I got out twice the week after it ended but didn't even catch a slot red. lol...that's how it goes for winter tournaments though!

It wasn't "extended", per say. The tournament start/end date never changed from the time we began promoting the tournament. It was just a week longer than the previoius years have been. There was a live leader board on the FB group that was updated daily
