Default White Point, Sat April 18

Decided to risk the rain early Saturday morning, which turned out to be a (almost) good choice. On the water by 6, surface temp was 74. Figured I'd make my way away from the bridge and see what was happening along the grass beds and docks. Nothing was really busting the surface, so I worked a popping cork and a gold spoon, with no luck. As it got lighter out, the water became more visible so I turned my pro angler into a poling platform, stalking my way along. I made a successful sight cast to one fish that took the DOA cork/shrimp, but turned out to be a hard head cat. Stumbled upon a school of eagle rays, as long as I stayed still they would drift right along side me. That was pretty cool, reminded me of my days as a kid, stalking antelope just for fun.
Once I got to the docks, the reds showed up, as well as the sheepshead and I think some loner black drum as well. I was so good at stalking/poling that I would be up on the fish before we both knew the other was there. I adjusted my speed and approach, and finally started getting good shots at the fish, but couldn't get anything to bite, gold spoons, red fish magic, mini 17's, gulp shrimp, spook jrs.... All of em either spooked the fish, or they just passed on by. (Feel free to weigh in on what I could have done differently to increase my odds)
All in all it was a fun trip with smooth water. It's still fun for this Rocky Mountain man to see all these salt water fish.

P.S. do catfish "dig?" I saw one cat do the "Steve irwin crocodile death roll" but it was face down in the sand.... Looked like it was wallowing out a hole in the sand.

Anyways, looking forward to the tournament on May 2nd, it'll be my first fishing tournament!
