Default When do the KINGS start running?

I bought a yak off this site last winter and I am starting to break her in. I have a malibu stealth 12' with a trolling motor. I want to target kings but I don't know when they start running. I'm pretty green cause I've been mainly an inshore guy.

Gulf water temp needs to get up to about 70, last weekend I was showing 65 in the bay. I would guesstimate mid April. Jmho

Mid April is a good 'SURE THING' but they were catching them on the Edge yesterday.

I would anticipate the first nearshore kings in the next week or so. I'll have a flat line out every trip from here on out.

I typically catch my first beach kings around mid March. I haven't been off the beach lately but there were kings caught off of gulf shores pier yesterday so that should give you an idea.

There will be stragglers but when the water hits the magic 70 degrees they will be here in good number.

I know it has still been dipping below 70 at night lately, but I was reading 71 offshore yesterday afternoon, darn near 72! Cookie said she saw something "sky" in the distance yesterday when we were out.

There's been at least 3 caught around pcola pier. I know a kayaker caught one and the pier landed at least 2. Also heard about some in FWB
