Weekend in the Gulf
Went out Saturday morning in the Gulf for a few hours. I didn't go too far since I was by myself and the surf/wind was rougher than predicted. Had one run and lost him after about 10 seconds. Had another good hit/non-hookup but it was the slowest I have experienced this fall. Ended up being found and harassed by remoras until they made me leave.
Sunday morning went back out for a couple hours before the games started. Near glassy at the beach but the north wind was rough a quarter mile offshore. Immediately got my two trolling lines tangled badly and all I could think of was, why did I do this? I could have relaxed in the warmth at home.
After about an hour and a half I had no takers and started paddling in. I realized it may be the last time trolling for Kings for me till spring so I decided I would make one more run in closer. Within minutes had a fish on. Although smaller than I've caught lately, she made an initial run better than the others. As I was boating her, the other rod took off slowly and I also caught my first sailcat, which I let go.
After that, I came in to watch the games. Now, I should have enough smoked king to last me through the winter.
Also, there was THOUSANDS of jelly's everywhere out there. Really cool.

I concur. I launched out of Navarre Sunday to troll and look for fishing spots. The condones were calm and water temp was 71.5. Nothing on the troll except one ramora. Flipper provided an escort in.

I'd take two days of fishing like that. Beats being at work.
Thanks for the report and taking the time to post all of your photos. I always enjoy seeing photos.
