Default topwater report 8-21

lots of swing and misses, some biggg trout hits and some reds mixed in and one jackcrevalle hit me and missed. boated a nice 20in trout and lost my favorite top dog topwater yakside on a 25in+ trout. ended the day with tonsss of redfish, the trout, and a legal mangrove snap. john(chaps) got two slot reds on topwater, lost the biggest trout i think ive ever seen , and a flounder and some slot specks, so he got his slam , decent morning id have to say.

That's what I was wondering. I fished topwaters early Sat near Big Lagoon and saw tons of descent reds chasing bait, but they weren't interested in my artificials. One redfish I did catch was about the same size as a badonka donk bomber I was using - ha! I think I'm gonna start using live bait more.

That first picture looks like some kind of otherworldly ghost trout. Weird lighting on his slime I guess.

It was a good morning with reds, trout, lady fish, and a couple small jacks and one barely legal flounder. The reds were on the smaller side with only a couple being slot. There did seem to be more trout there today than in the past. The reds and a few trout were caught on top water and live finger mullet and I managed a few more trout on a subsurface plug. The flounder was caught on a gulp shrimp on the bottom. There was a huge school of small menhanden getting hammered by some small jacks. It was cool to watch. Another great day in Pensacola.

Ok. I favor chartreuse because I had good luck in the winter with that color. Maybe you're right. I was using full size bombers and spooks, yellow, white, and red/white. Maybe I should have been using the smaller Jr.s.
By the way, I forgot to say congrats on your all's good catch.
