Launched near navy point today with my buddy who has never fished dock lights before and decided to try some new territory. Started off getting out much later than planned so already not in a great mood. After unloading the yaks I go to grab my reel and it's missing the handle. Couldn't find it anywhere and didn't notice it missing when I left but I say screw it and head out anyways. We paddle to the one light I've been before and have had good luck there. I'm letting him fish and trying to guide him how to do it and first cast he smacks the dock. We wait and go back with no luck. We start making our way back and fishing lights and nothing. We get to the last light and I see hits so I know that's a good sign. After a few casts he hooks up on a nice trout and after he lands it he let's me borrow his pole. Couple cast later my lure gets slammed, after a little while I reel in a stud red! Not really but he was a solid 12 inches...I was actually happy especially since I haven't caught one that size in years. Before we left I swung close to the light and could see quite a few nice specks but they didn't want to bite. Anyways still a fun night even with hardly fishing at all.
