Default Spanish

Paddling out some shark baits this morning at Pickens and decided to pitch the gotcha for some live ones while I was out. Ended up catching Spanish on nearly every cast. No real size to them but they were there in numbers. 12-18" for all of them. Seems early but maybe it's just time slipping by quickly

Awesome that they are here already, did you have any luck with the sharks?

We hooked up with a spinner. He made a short run, jumped up and shook the hook. Not a nibble after that.

I was out Monday and the birds were slamming them about 100 yards past second sandbar. Was the water boiling,or did you just take a chance and got hooked up. I'm on the search for them but Im always looking for the birds.

It wasn't boiling. Occasionally I could see them hitting really small bait fish on top (LY maybe?). They were right outside a break in the first sandbar and I really just found them on accident.

Nice job. I'm rigged up for the toothy critters and obsessed with finding them right now. I got my first ones on the 27th last year from a bridge. Now that I have a kayak I'm like a madman trying to find those schools of baitfish. Out there surf fishing Monday afternoon and they blew up right in front of me and slowly migrated for a couple hours West. I was so mad. Spent all day yesterday kayaking from Pcola Beach towards Navarre for miles without even a hit.
