I was snorkling near the Grayton beach recently and there were tons of fish around. Lots of whiting. These are a great fish to catch with kids and once you find them you can catch them over and over. Use very small hooks and tiny baits, they have small mouths. I also saw a few pompano and tons of redfish. Like dozens of redfish. All this was inside the second bar in chest deep or shallower water. Once the june grass moved in I found big schools of redfish working along the far (deeper water) edge of the grass, dozens of them. When I saw that I ran out of the water, grabbed my pole, and hooked up in under 10 seconds from casting. Its almost impossible to fish from the beach with the june grass being thick, but the grass forms a distinct bed just past the first bar and if you can get past it in a yak I think you could face the beach catch some fish.
