Default Simpson 3/3

Went out with a buddy of mine today that just got their first kayak! Got on the water about 10 this morning an boy was the wind blowing! Decided to hit a spot i hit last weekend where i caught some gator trout! Didn't have much luck so we decided to find a spot where we could shelter from the wind for a little haha. On the way we decided to stop on shore an rig some different stuff up, well once my buddy rigged their stuff they threw it out there an snagged something so i went to grab the net an it had flopped on shore already so i decided to put it back an i was turning around it had flopped back in the water an got off! I was so mad cause i didn't know what it was an wanted to get a good pic of it! It looked to be like a pike but i've only herd of them up north not to sure so any advice would be appreciated! Was the only fish hooked all day but all in all still a good day to be on the water!

Possibly a pickerel or a gar? Both shaped a lot like a pike if you couldn't get a good look especially

That would be the Chain Pickerel, also called "jack fish" down here.

Thanks for sharing

I've eaten one. It ain't worth the trouble. The meat gets real mushy and there are a ton if bones to cut around. It tastes fine, but I won't try it again.
