Default Santa Rosa Sound Docklights

I slipped out in the sound tonight just west of Hurlburt to hit a few of the nearest dock lights. I wanted to try a few lures out, some that I don 't typically fish. I used a Zara Spook, a 5" paddle tail swimbait, and the usual jig and gulp shrimp. I also tied on a DOA swimming mullet and baitbuster, but wasn't feeling them.

I wasn't out long, but had no offers on the spook, a few good hits on the swimbait until something hit it hard and my drag went zing.... for about 2 seconds. Reeled it in and found that my knot was still tied, but no lure. It had slipped out of a gap in the hook eye apparently. Disappointing. And the first time that's happened to me. Worked the Gulp a bit and got a few trout. The largest being 17". All released to get bigger.

Conditions were mostly glassy, not much current, and there wasn't much activity going on out there period. Might try again tomorrow.

There is a really good light right on the east side of the clearing for the runway if you didn't already know about it.

Thanks. I haven't ventured beyond the runway to the east. There's a lot of water with no lights if I go east, so I typically don't. I'll check it out though.
