Default Reds in Mulat

launched about 9 this morning and it did not look good. Wind was howling and the bayou was rough. Tried my holes and wind was just too bad. Water to rough. So went and found a spot with the wind blocked by the trees and the reds had the same idea.Started popping fish. Had my keepers in ten min. must have pulled 7 out before bite slowed down. All slot.Saw fish moving farther out and started throwing that way and starting getting specks. Had about 6 but only 1 keeper. Moved back toward to launch and found another spot with the wind blocked and bam three more reds. Then something strange happened. something was grabbing my bait and running all around with it. popping cork was flying around but they would not eat the bait. thinking gator gar but never saw one breach like normal. All in all a good day.

Any tips for fishing in mulat? My grandparents live on mulat bayou and I've been wanting to take the kayak out for a while there. We fish from their dock a lot but don't catch many keepers.

I use a popping cork and live shrimp. Look for a disturbance in the water close to the reeds. Throw near it but not on it.
