Default P'cola Pass Jetties

Jross and I hit the jetties at the pass today. Original plan was to hit the 3 barges and stuff around there to drag for flounder but we couldnt find any bull minnows so we loaded up with shrimp and fiddlers and headed to the jetties.

Water was beautiful today.

It was Jross's first time on a yak and my first time really fishing off of my kayak as Ive been mostly spearfishing from it since Ive gotten it.

Our first drift with shrimp on the bottom I got slammed, the boat yanked around and I thought I was about to be on my first sleigh ride but then the hook pulled.

On the first drift I noticed some sheepshead on the rocks so I grabbed my other rod and threw on a fiddler, it didnt last long but 6lb test just wont work there.

In the mean time jross decided to fish for sheepshead while I, after breaking off, decided to go back to drifting shrimp on the bottom in the eddy. It didnt take jross long to get two up and his second sheepie was a monster at 20"!

Neither one of us had an anchor so it was difficult staying on the fish and being that it was our first time fishing from a kayak it took some time getting use to rigging and untangling lines in such a cramped space!

I finally got my one and only sheepshead but I broke off and pulled more hooks today then I ever have fishing from a pier or boat. Not sure if it was coincidence or something different being on a kayak that I have to get use to.

Also, we found out that a kayak cart is a MUST have after dragging our kayaks from the parking lot nearest to the battery at the extreme south west end of the point to the surf!

I ended out finishing the day picking up a WS T120 for a good deal. I got it for my dad but I think I might have to retire my Scrambler and use it when he isnt around!

We fished the jetties coming into the pass from Perdido Key, kind of hard to miss those. I know the pass can get pretty rough but it wasnt bad all day.

that wilderness is a good boat, I have one as well. It's a really nimble platform and stable too, lightweight and easy to handle on and off the water. Kayak fishing will ruin you, it's so much more fun than catching them in a big boat IMO.
