I had two nice days on the water. The small spec's were hitting everything I threw at them, except jerk baits. I think it me not knowing how to use them. I was able to pull in two keepers and one small red with the Matrix Shad Ultra Violet and a Vortex Nighttruese.
I can find the small ones, I guess go deeper for the larger ones.

Last year went thru 10-15 short specs for every keeper. This year about 7 to 1 ratio. Not bad at all. Only skunked once in 3 months.
Water depth does not seem to matter for size right now, but could be wrong. Although I will say that if you start catching shorts, shift away 30 yards or so any direction, and sometimes the keepers are there.
