Default New to kayak fishing

I just bought a kayak and am planning on doing some fishing next week. I'm going to be in Perdido all next week and was thinking of heading to the park on the east side of Perdido. Would that be a good area to try and catch some fish or are there better options that are near by? Also, I'd love to meet up with some of y'all if you're going to be fishing any next week. Thanks for any advice.

Winter time fishing can be a little tough especially when the wind does what it's been doing the past few weeks. I'm only generally familiar with that area but if I remember correctly, focus on the deeper parts of the ICW this time of year. 1/4oz jig heads with soft plastic tails bounced slowly along the bottom should produce trout and reds holed up for winter. Ideal spots this time of year are noticablly deeper holes adjacent to seagrass/sand flats. The deeper the water, the warmer it'll be.

Good luck,
Alex

Thanks for the tip. I tried some surf fishing this morning with no luck but I'm going to head out in the kayak tomorow morning and I'll see how I do.

I was until yesterday. I'm from Baton Rouge, but have a family condo in Perdido.
