Default Little Mahi

Went out this morning with the yak just east of portofino, parking lot H. Just trolling cigs, about a minute into trolling my first cig caught a very nice spanish thought it was a baby king at first. Me and my buddy paddle out about a mile and half to two and got into the Mahi(a little small 8- 10 pounders), there were a lot of them out there today fun fight and first for me on the kayak. Ended the day with about 3 1/2 foot black tip. Fun Day!

Those are big for this early in the year.

They can grow an inch a week under good conditions.

Should be great fishing for them in August.

I am constantly amazed by the catches from yaks so close to shore. I guess it's the stealthyness.

Some of the battlewagons should carry one and launch it on a nice weedline and let the fisherman work it while standing off a half mile or so.

Probably not legal for a tournament though.

You don't need a yak to be quiet, just stay away from the grass and cast to it with a lure or bait chunks. We wear the Dolphin out that way.

I know you are correct, but that doesn't explain all the rare catches on yaks that are not caught 2 miles off the beach with small CC. There are a lot more CC than yaks fishing near shore.

The yakkers do something better... slower presentation? I dunno.
