Default kayak demo and a few good fish

I had a chance to use a wilderness systems ride 115x this morning and jumped on it. I like trying different kayaks.

I only had a couple hours so I figured I’d launch somewhere close to home and try the yak out. Found a sheltered launch, made a pretty long paddle to a spot I had in mind. I could see birds along the shoreline picking off minnows that the wind had pushed against the shore so I figured fish were close by.

After several casts w/ different lures, I missed a good fish on a spook, kept. Fishing the spot…changed to a silver speckled bass assassin, couple casts, fish on. Boated a healthy just under 20” trout, released to fight another day. I managed about 4-5 more smaller fish, nothing note-worthy all came on the bass assassin swimming slowly just off the bottom.

Had to leave to take my grand daughters swimming, so I let the wind push me back towards the launch.

This was my first ride in a wilderness, I liked it. The air pro seat w/ the rotating union for high-to-low adjustment is cool, quick and easy, seat was very comfortable. Foot pegs adjusted really easy as did the seat backs, etc.

I was able to fit my old full size cooler, ice, 3 rod holders, 4 Plano boxes, 2 bags of soft plastics, net, etc., on this yak. I was surprised just how much stuff I was able to pile on.

Standing and sight fishing was easy, popped right up, no assist needed, very stable. Over-all, very good yak. I’d buy one.

Here's the largest of the fish caught this morning.

Hey Mac, it was a healthy fish. All of them were chock full of minnows they were feeding on.

Trip was great, very long but glad to be back.
Let's hit the water again soon, weather willing.
