Default Johnson's Beach 9/25

Launched out at 11:00 am trying to be the next lucky one to catch a sailfish. No trouble catching bait on a sabiki in knee-deep water. The water was flat- very nice. I could see two different feeding frenzies breaking the water about a 1/4 mile out with birds circling them. I pedaled out and free-lined a minnow on 30# fluoro. Immediately caught a medium king and kept my leader intact. Had three more runs that resulted in a cut line and a couple fish heads. At one point I got caught up in a porpoise feeding frenzy. It was pretty crazy because those dang dolphins were thrashing around right next to me- probably six of them. Anyway, it turned out to be a fun day. I could have easily kept three kings if I had been rigged with wire. Sorry- no pics.

Good job resisting the urge to go to wire. Your patience will pay off......

You're right- it was tough to resist. I'm an all-or-nothing kind of gambler. Usually ends up with nothing- ha.

Thanks Pete!

Foulhook- good point. What I should've said is I had three opportunities for keepers.
