Default Heating up

Hit my normal spot down by Portafino. Kings are thick right now, almost every time a bait hit the water line was spooling. Managed to get one keeper within the first 30 minutes or so. Pulled the hook on several more. Big school of BFT were running about 100 yards beyond the second bar. From what I hear they made their way down to the pier and were spotted from there also. Hade trouble finding bait this morning, not sure what happened from the last few days. I only had a few frozen cigs, so that limited my time on the water. Mother Nature also put on a show producing a few funnel clouds from the line of storms that moved a little off shore. Things are heating up guys/gals,

Nice king brother! I hope to get out soon.. Saturday was to choppy for me, so I switched to inshore. I can't wait to get out there and hear some drag screaming!

What setup are you using?

I fish medium tackle, 50-60# braid with 18-24" wire leader with a 3-4/0 hook with a stinger for dead cigs. If they're live I use the same set minus the stinger. Tends to work well as an all round set up. Doesn't require me to change for various fish.

Funnel cloud is my signal for time to head to shore. Crazy. Did they end up catching any of the BFT at the pier?

Nice! I was out for short periods of time last week before the wind picked up. Kept my time and distance limited. Hoping to get out there tomorrow morning. I saw your post yesterday. If I was off I would have joined you. How far out did you manage to go today?

As far as I know the school of BFT were out of casting distance from the pier. As for distance, I was only 400-500 yards beyond the second bar. The rest of the week doesn't look to bad on the latest forecast. Unfortunately I have to head out of town to work in the am.

Nice king.

Where I live in Texas, the weather this year had been wet. Just last Friday, I got 19" of rain in a 24 hour period. Looks like were going to get another 2"-6" of rain for today. The freshwater runoff is really making a bay systems very fresh.
