Thumbs down Gulf 3/29/15

I took my dad and some buddies out for a little while. I woke up looked at the weather reports and it looked ok. Pulled up the beach cam and it looked flat. When we got out to Ft. Pickens it was another story. The winds were knocking the waves down before they got to the beach, which made for a good launch and recovery. Out past the second sand bar the waves looked pretty decent. We got to our first spot around RFRA Reef 14 with little show. Worked the area for a little while and then decided to head back in before wind shifted and made our beach landing a little more sporty. The waves on my fish finder were giving me a reading from trough to peak of up to 6'. I don't know how accurate that is, but they were well over my head. Only had one kayak flip on landing (only lost some sun glass), those PA's don't do to well landing with any kind of surf. Outbacks got that shit all day!

We ended up with 3 Bonita trolling yozuri crystal minnows, surface swimmer and deep divers. I can pull on those guys all day!

Don't know about those guys but other folks, including me....not so much. Not like I haven't eaten one. Back in the day the Bonita sandwiches were the staple at Navarre Pier.

What size/color yozuris are you pulling? I had some good luck in shallow inshore water on reds with MR17s and a 4" rapala shallow diver, but I'm curious about the nearshore technique.

Landing a PA is all about the captain (no, not boose) my friend! But yes, you make it look easy in your Outback.

I don't eat them. They are some of the best bait out there.

I had a jointed 5" Spanish pattern crystal minnow and a 5" cigar minnow pattern deep diver crystal minnow.
